Is something missing from mental health care?
Let's talk about it
Hello.
Welcome to all of my new subscribers! Wow. I am blown away. And THANK YOU to those of you who have been with me for a while.
REMINDER: I’m no longer working with trauma-exposed professionals, exclusively. I’ve opened the circle to all.
A few months ago, I watched a documentary called, In Waves and War, on Netflix. It follows a small group of Navy SEALs who came home from combat shattered, battling with anxiety, depression, addiction, physical pain, and ruined relationships.
In the film, they are very honest about their experiences. Painfully, vulnerably honest.
I watched a second time with pen and paper, pausing it constantly to take notes, because I knew I wanted to talk to you guys about this.
People aren’t getting better. What’s missing?
If you or someone you love is struggling (or suffering might be more accurate) with trauma-related mental and emotional health issues, and you feel you’ve done everything “right,” but you’re not getting better, I have a question for you.
Are you open to new and potentially “alternative” healing? Not necessarily as a replacement for what you’re already doing, but potentially as a complement to the mainstream mental healthcare track you’re on?
Tiptoeing into new territory
Ten medications. Something to sleep, something to wake up, something for focus, something for energy, something for nightmares, something for depression, something for anxiety. He was doing everything he was told to do. And he was getting worse.
I pulled this from the documentary. It’s eerily close to my husband’s story, and more prevalent than you might realize.
THIS is the reason I feel we should start looking outside of mainstream medicine at what else is available that might boost or enhance whatever we’re currently doing to heal and manage our mental health.
A bit about me, in case you’re new
I do this work because I lost my own husband to suicide, after an intense battle with mental health issues. I, in fact, have lost two family members in this way.
So, I have some pretty strong feelings about the mental health crisis.
Last week, I told you about the new book I’m writing
It’s an exploration of outside-the-box therapies, interventions, and modalities that support mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
This week, I recorded a video about the healing intervention featured in the documentary, In Waves and War 🌱
If the mental health crisis has touched your life in any way, I hope you’ll go watch my latest video on YouTube, where I share details about, In Waves and War, and the healing therapy these Navy SEALs decided to try.
🚨 Spoiler Alert: The transformations are profound.
The unconventional healing path the Navy SEALs chose might not be right for you, but I promise, my video and the documentary are worth a watch, if for no other reason than to give you hope.
I also share more about my husband’s battle than I usually do.
One more thing
This week, I’m offering a hack. A way to game the system—my system. 😁
In keeping with my philosophy that wellness education and support should be affordable, not a luxury, here’s my offer:
If you’ve had your eye on my $97 Pause First Academy signature course, Learn to Pause, which I created for trauma-exposed professionals (first responders, veterans, nurses, social workers and others), but that ANYONE can benefit from, here’s how to get it for only $29:
Go grab 👉 The All-Access Monthly Pass 👈 for $29, and cancel before your payment renews.
This pass gives you unlimited access to all of my published courses.
This is me, putting my money where my mouth is. NOBODY should be priced out of wellness.
(New content will be added to your monthly pass quarterly, beginning July 1, if you decide you want to stick around.)
That’s all I have for you this week. Thank you for being a subscriber!
Cheers!
Kim
